Submerge Says Dance - A New Show from India

September 15th, 2010

Submerge Says Dance

India’s premier Electronic Dance Music artist and promotion agency - SUBMERGE - joins friskyRadio with an exclusive show! The show, hosted by “Shubs” launches on Wednesday, September 22 at 08AM New York City / 1730 Mumbai [Time Zone Converter] and marks the first time friskyRadio is expanding into such a deep partnership with with an artist promotion agency in the Indian sub-continent.

The Indian music scene has undergone a huge metamorphosis in the past decade, giving way to world class electronic music. What started as an underground alternative movement is breaking free today and capturing fans all over the world. Indeed, the world’s top DJs regularly do gigs in cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore - making India a regular spot on the International Dance Music scene. Submerge Says Dance, hosted by DJ Shubs, is all about bringing the Indian dance scene to all you friskyFreaks out there!

Catch the debut show on Wednesday, September 22 at 08AM New York City / 1730 Mumbai [Time Zone Converter] with featured guests DJ Sailen Ghosh and Azhar Meer. For more information check out the Submerge show page.

More about SUBMERGE:
Submerge is a breakthrough concept, and has revolutionized the music and clubbing scene in India. The brainchild of Nikhil Chinapa, DJ Pearl and Hermit Sethi - Submerge was essentially born out of frustration. When we first began in 2003, it was because there was no alternative to the mainstream. No matter where you went, you got the same old music and the same tired experience. So, we created a night that we could play the music that we wanted to hear, that we wanted to move to. We wanted to play the latest tracks from the global club scene because that’s we were into. It wasn’t about catering to the masses; it was about being on the cutting-edge of music, listening to the best in House and trance music.

Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives

September 5th, 2010

per·spec·tive (pr-spktv) n.
A mental view or outlook. Subjective evaluation of relative significance; a point of view.

We’re welcoming Darin Epsilon on board the wild ride we call the friskyTrain (also known as friskyRadio) with his hit show Perspectives exclusively on friskyRadio. Darin has been impressing the frisky crew and audience with his consistency in programming and top-notch guest talent that ranges from the world superstar to the next-big-thing on his radio show for a few years now and we’re happy to welcome his show and talent to the friskyRadio airwaves beginning September 15 at 01PM Los Angeles (04PM New York City | 2100 London).

Whats more, Darin is also launching Perspectives Digital, a record label based on the radio show brand and already he’s got Cid Inc. and Niko Fantin signed to the label, to name a few. He recently sat down with friskyRecords’ Head Honcho Ira Heinichen to discuss the show and the new label on Fresh Produce, which you can listen to here.

Fall of 2010 is looking rather busy for Darin, and we expect great things from him in the future. Join us in welcoming Darin to frisky! Read more about Darin Epsilon and Perspectives here.

Pakistan Flood Relief - Update

September 2nd, 2010

Hey there everyone. Its Faisal here with a quick update on our Pakistan Relief EP Download & Donate drive.

The donation drive officially ended today and we raised a total of $1727.41 from the generous donations from all of you. friskyRadio will be chipping in $273 from their own funds to make the total an even $2000 that we have raised in just one week! To give you all an idea of what a huge achievement that is, consider this fact: $30 can feed a flood-affected family of 6 for an entire month in Pakistan.

On behalf of everyone involved, Id like to thank everyone that donated, helped out, promoted the donation drive, changed their social profiles to raise awareness and/or otherwise helped out with this. Please know that we appreciate each and every little thing you did over the course of the past week to help us get to this point. Thank you!

Next steps: We will be buying tents, medical supplies and water purification tablets with this money and ship them out to people in Pakistan where it will be immediately used by people in desperate need. We plan to keep you updated throughout the process so that you know where your kind donation money is going.

The situation in Pakistan continues to be challenging. Chris Anderson (of TED Talk fame) has a great blog of personal stories from the ground in Pakistan that is well worth a read if you’d like to get a sense of the scale of this tragedy. Please continue to tell your friends and colleagues about this disaster and ask them to keep the poor and destitute in their hearts and minds everyday.

Thank you!
-Faisal on behalf of the friskyRadio crew & artists involved.

Pakistan Flood Relief EP & Donation Drive

August 26th, 2010

The Pakistan Floods have affected 20 million people. That is more than the earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, Pakistan in 2005 and the 2004 tsumani combined. We at friskyRadio feel that this disaster is not getting the attention it deserves. So to help, some of your favorite friskyRadio artists have prepared a special EP. All we ask in return is that you donate to the Pakistan Relief Fund using the link below. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to help people in desperate need of food or shelter so please give generously. THank you!

Check out the Pakistan Flood Relief EP here.

Sound Garden Nick Warren friskyRadio

A special message from Nick Warren to his friskyRadio fans:

Hi Everyone, How time flies! It is once again the time of year when we ask you all to vote for us in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll. It’s been another cracking year for me especially with my friskyRadio show “The Soundgarden” starting.

The feedback has been amazing and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support, it means so much to me.
Coming up this year will be my first solo recordings. “In Search of Silver” will come out on Bedrock, and I am just putting the finishing touches to a couple more solo singles as well. There will also be a new Way Out West single with Jody this year. I was thrilled to have moved up 26 places in last year’s poll and would be honoured if you would consider voting for me again. I hope you enjoy the new “Live at Tomorrowland” mix I have posted.

Love to you all,
Nick Warren
