How to play FRISKY Radio Streams in Winamp or Other External Media Player
You asked, and we listened! You can now play the FRISKY or CHILL radio streams in Winamp or the external media player of your choice!
Here’s how:
1. Log into the FRISKY website using your username / email or Facebook, Twitter or G+. Yes, you will have to be a logged-in member to take advantage of this feature.
2. Once you’re logged in, you can set your default radio player in Member Settings.
3. Set your default player to ‘External Player’ – as shown in screenshot below:
Now, when you click PLAY on the bottom bar player for the radio streams, it will play the radio stream in the default media player of your choice (ie Winamp, iTunes, VLC, etc).
We hope you enjoy this feature enhancement to the website. Its the direct result of your feedback so please keep that feedback coming. We’re suckers for it and we love hearing from you! We havent made any new significant additions to the website in a while because we’re working on a super secret and awesome product that will be out in a next few months. So keep an eye out for it. Until then – stay FRISKY!

Oooopsy, this wasn’t possible for the past months? I always used direct links to the m3u files to play it on foobar2000, but maybe I am listener for too long. I still used that possibility from time of the old website, when you could take the direct links with the context menu on the website. 🙂

@Addliss – No. We’re trying to streamline all listening on the webapp so that users can easily go from listening to on-demand streams to the live radio. Besides, the listening on the site also helps the user check out the tracklist and read the DJs’ bios and other information. Some of the features we have planned for the webapp will also make listening on the webapp a better experience.
We’re trying to make some users happy that want to be able to listen to the radio streams using their own media players.

I think I am not the only one but for me an external player is a “must” option (most of the time)…I listen to frisky mostly at work and am stuck there with internet explorer with various restrictions and my only option there is windows media player and m3u file to play it…so i download the file at home to play it at work…And at home I prefer using winamp over web browser simply because those things have a tendency to crash sometimes…
Btw chillout channel isn’t currently working except on the website…I presume that is temporary…

I have been listen to Frisky for years and now my iTunes will not play anymore. I have gone to the settings and have change the default. It says it will play In my iTunes when i click the listen icon on the webpage, but it does not.
So, can we not listen using our music players anymore, does it have to be from the webpage directly ?
Cheers, Kevin

Hi @Ed. Did you follow the instructions in this post? The link you posted is NOT an actual streaming server link. If you look at the post it will show you how to access the AAC streams. Please dont bookmark streaming urls because they change all the time.
